PV Energy Ireland
PV Energy Ireland is a solar PV company based in Cloonfad, County Mayo, supplying and installing photovoltaic systems for homes, farms, businesses, schools and churches across Connacht and the midlands.
The company is led by owner and managing director John Coffey and works from an office in County Mayo together with a second office in Munster. It grew out of a rooftop solar business in the United Kingdom, where, according to the company, more than five megawatts of rooftop PV were completed before its first office in the Republic of Ireland opened. Installation work in Ireland is carried out in partnership with an SEAI registered installer based in County Roscommon.
They state that they supply only panels that are registered and verified with SEAI and listed on the SEAI Triple E and Microgen databases. Completed installations include domestic rooftop and ground-mounted arrays in Westport, Athleague, Galway city and Athlone, along with farm systems in Kiltimagh, Ballinasloe, Corrandulla and Adare.
PV Energy Ireland is a Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) registered solar PV installer.
Solar PV services
Their work covers the supply and installation of solar photovoltaic systems for domestic, commercial, agricultural and community customers.
- Domestic solar PV: Rooftop and ground-mounted arrays for homes, from small systems of around 1.5 kWp up to 4 kWp and above, with an immersion diverter supplied so that surplus generation heats the household hot water.
- Commercial solar PV: Rooftop systems for businesses that use most of their electricity during the working day, including arrays of around 11 kWp.
- Agricultural solar PV: Installations on farm roofs and outbuildings, including poultry units and organic farms in counties Mayo, Galway and Limerick.
- Schools, churches and community buildings: Solar PV for community and public-sector premises, with monitoring so that generation and consumption can be followed.
Services for businesses and farms
For business and farm customers, the company presents solar PV as a hedge against volatile and peak-rate electricity prices, and notes that commercial buyers can write off the purchase value of a system against profit in the year of purchase under Accelerated Capital Allowances. They also state that they have partnered with a licensed electricity retailer that gives access to wholesale market pricing and will buy back surplus generation at an agreed price.
